Before initiating a domain transfer request, there are a few things to be taken care of

• Domain name must be 60 days old from the registration or previous renewal date
• Domain name status should be ACTIVE
• Collect the domain name transfer secret from your current registrar
• Admin contact email id should be valid

If the above conditions are fulfilled successfully, then the domain will get transferred in 5 days after the administrative contact's approval. It is advisable to transfer a domain at least 15 days before the expiry date to avoid any failure of the transfer.
